Day 3 - Begin Again

Today is the third day of my latest effort to lose the weight and stick to the Nutrisystem plan. I originally prepared this blog to document the beginning of a new job, but 2 months after being laid off there is no job in sight. Therefore, I am choosing to use this for something positive.

I am mentally working through the "checklist" that I've posted each day, and not stressing about the things I don't accomplish. I have a long history of putting so much pressure on myself that I get overwhelmed and then can't function. I'm aware of that and trying to work through it.

So, here is today's checklist. I've changed it up slightly. Instead of repeating "get on treadmill" I'm just going to document how many times I do it. Today is only one since I was going out for the evening. Starting Monday August 5, the goal is 2-4 each day.

  • get up - yes
  • feed cats - yes
  • have coffee & breakfast, take vitamin D & E - yes
  • get dressed - yes
  • put on sneaks - yes
  • get on treadmill - yes (1)
  • protein shake - yes
  • have lunch - yes
  • have afternoon snack -
  • have dinner -
  • take rest of vitamins - yes
  • have evening snack -
  • take shower -
  • do skincare -
  • brush teeth -
  • go to bed -

So, what did I eat today ? Breakfast was a 270 calorie Jimmy Dean Delights breakfast sandwich. No yogurt today due to the calories in this item. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a chef salad and a 250 calorie meatloaf sandwich with a little bbq sauce. I have forgotten to mention that when I have the quesadilla for lunch I am adding low fat sour cream. That is 40 calories per 2T and I probably use 3-4T, so 60-80 extra calories. I also add salsa but that is considered a free food on Nutrisystem, so you can have as much as you want !

I wanted to weigh myself this morning and will probably do so every day, so I decided to bring the scale downstairs, since it needed a good cleaning and it would be more accessible. I parked it right in front of the refrigerator ! It's a good reminder every time I am in the kitchen and might help keep me on track.

Last night I finished the last of the ice cream, so all cookies and ice cream are out of the house. I do have 3 packets of Pop Tarts, and I'll keep those for an "emergency" .. lol ! I also have a bag of Chex Mix but I'm going to take that with me this weekend to share. It's a 5 hour drive to Altoona, PA so we're going to spend a fair amount of time in the car !

The village was on my street this morning making all kinds of markings on the pavement, so nosy me looked out and asked if they were getting ready to start the planned water main work. They confirmed they are but they expect the digging to mostly be on the other side of the street, which is nice. I had a front row seat when they demoed the buildings across the street, and now I can watch them dig up my street and replace the water main. I'll have to make sure I fill my water jug for the plants and for the coffee maker. I may also fill up a couple buckets in case I need water to flush the toilet. I don't know how they handle it .. they might just lay the new pipe next to the existing pipe and then cut over the water delivery once they're done. I guess I'll find out ! I just need to make sure I'm prepared in case they do have to shut off the water for any period of time.

I haven't watched any of the Paris Olympics, but I've read a few news stories. It seems like they went cheap with everything. First no AC in the Olympic village ... in the dead of summer ! They claim they were trying to be eco-friendly - yet they sold air conditioners to any team that wanted them. Then came complaints of not enough food and not enough quality food, ie protein. Some teams left the Olympic Village and rented hotel rooms. Then you have the controversy over the drag queen act in the opening ceremonies .. which purports to mimic The Last Supper and is highly offensive to Catholics. Some triathlon events had to be cancelled or moved because of the water quality issues in the Seine .. which is filthy. Now I read that the swimming events are recording lower than normal times and most are attributing it to the fact that the pool is not the normal 3 meter depth. Fans also complained because there is no alcohol available. France is renowned for their wines and champagnes and not a drop is found at or near the venues. Not a good look for France !
