Day 13 through 15 - Begin Again

Today is the 15th day of my latest effort to lose the weight and stick to the Nutrisystem plan. I originally prepared this blog to document the beginning of a new job, but over 2 months after being laid off there is no job in sight. Therefore, I am choosing to use this for something positive.

Well, my effort to lose the weight hasn't really started and I'm not trying very hard. I'm still finding 100 excuses not to get on the treadmill, and none of them are legitimate. Saturday and Sunday I went so far as to get dressed and put on my sneakers ... then sat on the couch all day.

The job search continues. I've gotten nothing but rejections or no response. I did apply to a couple other jobs today. It's very depressing after a while so I have to limit the amount of time I spend on that.

It's 1:45 pm now and I've done nothing but watch YouTube and scroll the job boards. Time to get some lunch, get dressed and get on the treadmill. One thing that is weighing on me right now is I have some poison ivy rash ! It's mostly on my right hand but I have a little on the left, along with some on my stomach. Not sure how that happened - I either touched that area or spread it when I showered. I also have a rash behind my right ear. It doesn't seem to itch and isn't blistery, so I'm not sure what that is from. I have a couple areas on the right side of my face too. I'm thinking it's all related to poison ivy. I'm taking Benadryl to manage the itching and that works great. It calms the inflammation right down and keeps me from wanting to scratch or rub the blisters. The worst area is my right ring finger, which makes sense as I remember using that hand to pull weeds .. some of which were obviously poison ivy. I should have worn my gardening gloves ! I'm just glad I didn't get any on my feet or legs, like I did last summer ! I need to go out there and spray the area where I believe the poison ivy was.
