Day 8: The Start of Week 2

Here is the link to my original Day 8 on Nutrisystem. It was Friday January 11, 2019. I was still absorbing the shock of our office closing but the initial shock had worn off and I needed to get back to work. It was a super cold winter day. The positive on this day was that I had lost 7 pounds on my first week of Nutrisystem.

The new Day 8 dawned bright, sunny and milk. I don't know what the temp was when I got up, but it was 73 at 10:30 am. I weighed myself and the scale read a disappointing 278. Since I didn't weight myself at the start of this latest effort, I will credit myself with a 2 pound loss and move on. I am fully committed to a good week 2 and I started it off my throwing away the last bit of ice cream. Week 2 is going to be about 100% compliance 5 of 7 days. Wednesday's will be my "cheat day" since it is rock & roll bingo night. Going forward I'm going to get a cheese flatbread with my 2 beers. Thursday is State Fair day, so there will be some eating involved. After this week, I will plan on 100% compliance 6 of 7 days. I made some mistakes last week. No exercise, continuing to eat ice cream and stuffing myself at DQ. All bad. This coming week will be about moderation and making better choices.

When I went to bed last night I checked in on the tub spout and the silicone seal was nice and dry. I can't wait to take a shower today !

Breakfast was 160 calorie waffles with low cal syrup. About 11 am I had an 80 calorie yogurt with my second cup of coffee. Lunch was a 230 calorie burrito with salsa. I later had a chef salad. I had my afternoon snack at 5:30 - 80 calorie cottage cheese and 10 crackers (100 calories). I have an open bag I want to finish up. Dinner was a repeat of last night: 260 calorie roasted turkey medallions with mashed potatoes and another bowl of steamed carrots. I also treated myself to a 1911 Cider Donut hard cider. I have a bunch of 1911 products and they're several years old, so I need to start drinking them. Since it's alcohol, it's not like I can have one every night. The last I need is to become an alcoholic !

The goal for today is to either mow the lawn OR get on the treadmill x2. As of 11 am the grass is still too wet to even think about mowing. The plan is to check it again after lunch.

I'm feeling kind of disappointed in myself today. I really want to get this weight off but I know I haven't been trying hard enough. If I don't try harder it will never happen. That's the inspiration for today's picture. I just need to try a little harder each day. I think discarding the remaining ice cream was a good start, even though there wasn't much left. I do need to try harder to use much less whipped cream. So week 2 goals ? Less whipped cream, more exercise ! Easy enough, right ?

By 2 pm today the second load of laundry was in the dryer, the fabric softener cup was soaking in hot water to remove build up and I had changed the sheets on the bed and made it up. I don't feel like mowing the lawn. I will do that tomorrow for sure as there is rain in the forecast Tuesday night into Wednesday. Plus I'll be out Wednesday evening and all day Thursday. Shortly after 3 I had the washer back together and the 3rd load of laundry washing. The first 2 loads were folded and put away. It's been a while since I washed the fabric softener cup and it was caked with so much built up residue. After cleaning the removeable cup I also scrubbed the receptacle in the washer and dumped 2 bowls of really hot water in to rinse away any remaining buildup. I also scrubbed the residue off the agitator. I really need to clean that more often. I was happy to see it sparkling clean again ! Once the washer stops I plan to take a shower and get dressed for the treadmill !

Well, by 5:30 I had 3 loads of laundry done and I'd had a shower. I checked behind the tub spout after my shower and there was no indication of any water leaking. Next step is to re-caulk all around the tub and then fix the ceiling in the dining room. I also spent some time reviewing the pages I "like" on Facebook. I deleted a few since I don't spend much time there.

I didn't get on the treadmill today and it's hard to explain why. I didn't get dressed before my shower because I was "dirty" - so why put on clean clothes ? I didn't put on "dirty" clothes because I was doing laundry. After my shower I didn't feel like getting dressed since it was 5 pm and I'd be going to bed in a few hours.

I happened to see my horoscope on Yahoo and though I'm not a big believer in them, I decided to check mine out for the month of August. Here is what it had to say:

August 19 is the most pivotal point of the month with the Aquarius full moon occurring in your 6th house of work, daily habits and service. This is the house that is naturally associated with your sign in modern astrology. The full moon coincides with two T-Squares involving Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and the sun, moon and Uranus. There may be a development in regards to your health or your daily work environment. Pay attention to the information you receive around this date and the weeks after.

The sun joins Venus in your 1st house of self on August 22nd for your birthday season. You have an important year ahead with your solar year starting off with several planets in angular houses. This is a year where one area of your life may impact the other, and all the parts that make up the whole need to be in sync. No one is better cut out for the task that lies ahead for you, Virgo.

Kind of interesting that on 8-19 I took action to utilize the career planning services that were expiring. Note the highlighted sentence. I guess I need to spend some time going over the resume review results that were sent back to me on Friday !
