Day 30: A Day of Reckoning
Here is the link to my original Day 30. It was Saturday February 2, 2019. My headline that day was "Live Your Life". I spent the day with my mom, Rich & Barb and Alyssa. Costco, Longhorn Steakhouse and the casino .. what more can you ask for ? It was a great day and I'm working to make this day 30 a great day !
My alarm went off at 7 as planned but boy, I did NOT want to get up. I lounged in bed for a bit and tried to go back to sleep but I had really had to pee so I got up. I always say I can take a nap if I get up feeling really tired, but once I'm up and moving I'm fine and don't take naps. Once the cats were fed I grabbed my breakfast and settled in to watch some YouTube and play Cookie Jam.
Breakfast was 160 calorie Nutrisystem waffles with the remains of the low cal syrup. As of tomorrow I'll be back to the sugar free. I checked the box on the Wegman's waffles and they are 180 calories, so only 20 more than Nutrisystem. They are cheaper, so a good option if I decide to cancel Nutrisystem. About 9:30 I grabbed a second cup of coffee and an 80 calorie yogurt.
When I made my second cup of coffee today I decided I will not buy any more of the sugar free syrups. I'm finding that I no longer enjoy the sweetness, so I'm going to return to black coffee. It'll be a while as I still have a few bottles. I'm not sure exactly how many. For the time being I'm going to add less of it to cut the sweetness. I didn't get on the treadmill right away today and I didn't shower, but I'm ok with that as long as I get to the treadmill at noon. It's 10 am right now and I've gotten dressed and put my shoes on, so I'm ready to go ! Checked my iFit tablet and it's at 80%, so I'm good for the day.
In AT&T news, they have reached a tentative agreement with the union. Looking at it, I'm not seeing big gains. It's more about holding benefits where they are for 2025 with slight increases in salary. 30 years ago this wouldn't be an agreement to celebrate, but in today's world it's a good deal. I feel like they'll need to accept all available overtime for a while in order to regain their lost wages. That's not really a good deal but that's the reality we live in now. I felt the same way back in 1986 - what we gained didn't come close to what we lost, but overtime was available to make up for what we lost. Still, you had to work for it ... so did you really make up for anything ? In this tentative contract the employees get a raise but not really much else. It's sad they had to strike for so long and didn't really gain a whole lot. Like I said, 30 years ago this would not have been a good deal. I'm sure the membership will vote to ratify the new agreement and that will be the end of this event. I'm not sure either side can claim victory.
It's a nice sunny day today and the expected high is 82 .. it's 73 right now at 10 am. I'm going to spend the next couple of hours watching tv and playing Cookie Jam and will hit the treadmill at noon.
I ended up putting the yogurt back and having a bowl of macaroni salad instead. I also skipped my protein shake. Those 235 calories help offset the salad. I got on the treadmill around 12:15 or 12:20 and did 14m33s with the usual 6 minutes of warm up and cool down. On day 30 of my original journey I was at 283 pounds .. which is pretty close to where I am today ! You could say that my original journey and this journey have collided and my goal is to move forward on the same path. I've decided that tomorrow I will throw away any of the macaroni salad that is left, instead of forcing myself to eat it all. Why push all those extra calories in ? I will also throw away the open bottle of ranch dressing, since I'll have no use for it. After my workout I got started taking my vitamins for the day. This is an easy add to my routine !
I was done with my workout and back on the couch about 12:50. I wasn't hungry so I decided I'd have lunch later. I've said this 100 times: the later I can eat, the less likely I am to be hungry in the evening. I'm excited to have the eggplant on hand as that will be a nice change of pace for veggies !
