Day 38: Will I Get The Job ?

Tuesday September 24, 2024

Here is the link to my original Day 38. It was  Sunday February 10, 2019. My headline that day was "Keep Moving". I found the book for the treadmill, activated my iFit account and did my first workout ! I only lasted 8m8s, but it was a start ! For once, I am ahead of the curve in this new journey ! I was optimistic for the future at that time and I stated that my career was still up in the air. However, I believe I actually knew that I was not losing my job. I suppose I just couldn't talk about it.

I got up just after 8 am and there were 6 strays waiting for me this morning. The new mama seems to have recovered well from giving birth. It appears the orange/white female is also pregnant so more kittens are on the horizon. I'd really like to get these girls spayed but right now it's more than I can manage, so I'll just keep feeding them.

Breakfast was a 270 calorie breakfast sandwich. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. Afternoon snack was an 80 calorie cheese stick and some crackers. Dinner was the leftovers from my Pennsylvania trip, that had been sitting in the freezer. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake.

Today was trash day but I don't even have a full bag so I didn't bother putting it out. I got my first workout in shortly after 1 pm. It was 14m22s with a 3 minute warm up and a 4 minute cool down. I'm acclimated to the 4 minute cool down, but I'm not sure I'm ready to step up the pace to 2.4 mph. I have one workout left in Part 1 of the Road to Recovery series. More than anything I think I'm just doubting my ability. The workouts in part 2 are 15-16 minutes each, though I did see one that is 22. I am going to have to convince myself to at least TRY the higher speed. If 2.4 mph is too much, I will try 2.3 mph. What's most important is that I get on the treadmill at least once per day. That's it .. once a day. Anything beyond that is a bonus ! I searched through my old blog and on iFit and finally found the workout I used to do every day in the very beginning ! It was 19m51s of intervals. The intervals were 1 minute at 2.4 followed by 1 minute at 2.8 mph ! So this is faster than I am doing today and I was able to do it at the same weight I am today ! Yes, I am 5 years older and that makes a difference but I am going to try the workout and see if I can do it. If I can, I may opt to go back to that routine of doing it every day until it feels "easy". Intervals are good because it boosts your heart rate for short periods. At the same time, I can do Road to Recovery part 2. Two workouts a day is a reasonable goal. I'm glad I made the workout a favorite in the app as this particular series is no longer found on iFit. I searched and searched for Road to Recovery Part 2 as well and couldn't find that ! Turns out I had made it a favorite, so that may be why I couldn't find it.

Below is what I achieved today. I am focusing on what I did today and not looking back to what I did or didn't do yesterday.

By 3:15 I had done my makeup and hair. I was undecided about leaving it down or putting it up. I set my computer up at the height/angle I wanted and made sure I had the Zoom link. It's a good thing I checked early, as it wasn't in the calendar on my laptop and I no longer had the email. Lucky for me it was in the calendar on my phone so I was able to forward it to my email. Then I started getting nervous ! I really want to get this job and I'm so afraid I won't. It will also be embarrassing since my former colleague knows I'm trying to get hired. I mentioned her when I reached out to the CEO, in hopes it would help me get in the door. They did ask her about me and she said she told them I was very smart and hard working. I guess if I don't get hired the embarrassment is my own fault since I mentioned her name. Was that a sneaky back door attempt to get my foot in the door ? I guess you have to do what you have to do. It would just feel right to work with her again, since we worked together at the very beginning of my career.

Well, so that "interview" was a waste of time. They have no billing jobs open ! Also, they advised my former colleague is retiring in 2025 ! The woman was very nice and said she wished she could hire me now, but that didn't help my disappointment. Apparently they won't consider me for the telecom audit or telecom expense management jobs, probably because I have no experience. I guess this job is not meant to be, so I'll keep looking. I applied to a telecom audit job at Velocity, we'll see if they are willing to interview me.
