Day 44: Past Me and Present Me
Monday September 30, 2024
Here is the link to my original Day 44. It was Saturday February 16, 2019. My headline that day was "Strength Through Disappointment". I was disappointed to only lose 1.4 pounds. My weight was 278.6 pounds. The scale has been waffling back and forth between 279 and 280 the past couple of days and I'm not sure why I'm not showing a loss. I stopped eating all the junk I had been eating and although I'm not gaining, I don't appear to be losing. It's frustrating but I know it will happen. I also know that consistent exercise is going to help, so I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. I may just be weighing myself at different times and your weight does fluctuate. I also had my nightgown on today. I'll need to stop weighing myself every day if it starts to impact my motivation.
I titled today's blog "Past Me and Present Me" because the journeys have intersected. Before I even reviewed my past Day 44 blog I was feeling disappointed about my weight. So it was a surprise to see I was experiencing similar feelings at the same point of my original journey. Just like before, I'm not giving up this easily. I know the weight will start to come off soon. Since I'm not working I need to put a little more effort into spending less time on the couch. During the beginning of my initial journey I was still going to the office every day so I was up and moving a bit more. I need to get 10,000 steps per day and yesterday was probably the closest I've come in a while, at 8209. Since I'm going to the grocery store today I'll get a good start on hitting 10k.
Breakfast was a 180 calorie cinnamon roll and an 80 calorie yogurt. Morning snack was a 155 calorie vanilla shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. I was out of produce so I couldn't have a salad. Afternoon snack was an 80 calorie cheese stick and 100 calorie crackers. Dinner was 220 calorie rotini with meatlballs and green beans. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake. Whipped cream has returned, but ONLY for the lemon cake and jello, if I make some.
In awesome news, my IRA balance has increased to $400k as of my new statement. Not bad considering my starting balance was $378k ! I also checked in with my bank to ensure my transfer to cover the mortgage payment had posted. Tomorrow I will set up a transfer to cover the taxes and the first few bills of the month.
Doug came by and mowed the lawn today so that was great. The day started out foggy and cool but as soon as the sun popped out it warmed right up and became another beautiful early fall day.
Just after noon I booted my fat ass off the couch and headed for the treadmill. I did the Hauru Beach Walk again and although I was pretty breathless to start, I feel like it wasn't quite so bad once I reached the halfway mark. By the time the workout ended I was breathing pretty evenly. My Fitbit says my heart rate peaked at 175, which exceeds my max heart rate. Not sure why that happened, since it's the same workout I did yesterday. I'll keep an eye on that going forward.
After my workout and lunch it was time to head out to the grocery store. I left shortly after 2:30 and got home shortly after 4:30. I'm glad I beat the 5 pm traffic in Cicero ! I spent $200 at Walmart but I'm trying to stock up a little bit for winter. I spent nothing at Wegman's as I finally used a couple of the gift cards I've had for a while. I'm proud of this shopping trip because I didn't buy any random foods that are not part of my diet and I didn't make any side trips for fast food or frozen coffee. Instead, I came home and had my afternoon snack ! I finally remembered to add riced cauliflower to my grocery list and I actually picked it up at Wegman's because Walmart never seems to have it. I'm glad I did because .. you guessed it .. Walmart had none ! The shelf tags are there for it but they never have any. They used to have big bags of it and I loved that, even thought the smaller bags are easy to just throw in the microwave.
Seems like my new neighbor is getting the house ready to move in. I saw a couple cars there today and a couple windows were open. I imagine there will be some fencing being done too, as she has dogs and the yard is not fully fenced right now. I saw more activity across the street yesterday too. That rental hasn't looked lived in but yesterday someone brought some furniture and there are mums on the front steps. Someone came today and trimmed the weeds on the vacant lot side of the house, so it looks a little neater now.
Below is what I achieved today. I am focusing on what I do each day, and not looking back to what I did or didn't do any other day.
