Day 52: Another Good Day ?

Here is the link to my original Day 52. It was  Sunday February 24, 2019. My headline that day was "On The Mend" as I was feeling better. I didn't realize I had a fever until I woke up in the early morning hours in a drenched nightgown. I didn't really detail how I spent the day, but I'm going to guess I was on the couch watching tv !


The alarm went off at 7 today but I did not get up. It was just after 8 when I finally got up and that is progress ! I'm keeping the alarm on, in hopes that I will get my sleep cycle turned around and be able to start getting up at 7 again.


Breakfast was a 180 calorie cinnamon roll. I had an 80 calorie yogurt just before noon. Morning snack was a 155 calorie chocolate shake with peanut butter powder. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was an 80 calorie cheese stick and the last of the pretzels. Dinner was 250 calorie chicken enchilada with green beans. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake with whipped cream.


As expected, the house was chilly this morning. The low last night was 43 and it was 62 upstairs and 63 downstairs. It wasn't horrible ! I turned on the space heater and that was enough to keep the area I was sitting in warm. Minnie hopped in my lap to enjoy our little "hot spot".


It was gray and rainy all morning but around 11 the sun popped out for a visit. Since the rain had stopped I went ahead and put out the recyclables. As expected, since I put the trash out last night the truck hasn't come yet ! It's 11:44 right now. I may start putting it out on Monday night now only because it means less stress in the morning. I opened the front door so that Minnie could enjoy what little sun we have. There are some dark clouds just west of me, but they may just keep moving north.


Despite it being chilly and the couch feeling pretty cozy, I managed to motivate myself to make the bed, take a shower, get dressed and complete my skincare ! That's a great start to the day ! I also made my shake and plan to be on the treadmill by 1 pm. 


I'm proud to say I brushed my teeth when I went to bed last night, which means I completed all items on the checklist ! It's a little sad that at the age of 62 I have to pat myself on the back for something so basic, but that's where I am. I believe I've suffered from clinical depression for most of my adult life and that contributes to the struggle. However, I've proven to myself that I can overcome that if I put my mind to it ! I just have to do whatever works, and right now the checklist is helping !


I forgot to take my vitamins right after I had my cinnamon roll, so I took some with my yogurt. I added a few saltine crackers to ensure I don't end up with nausea again today. I'm taking the multivitamin, D, E and iron in the morning, the zinc & potassium after lunch and the calcium at bedtime. I want to add magnesium in the evening but I will wait until Thursday to do that. I've never taken this variety (magnesium glycinate) so I want to take it when I'm not planning on going anywhere. I really think getting my vitamins started again will help me feel more energetic. I'm already seeing the benefits of exercise as my hips are not bothering me as much.


I decided to get up to do my workout without checking the time and it turned out it was exactly 1 pm ! As usual, I completed the 20m Hauru Beach Walk. My heart rate topped out at 139, which is in my range.


I checked in on my bank account today and the check for my school taxes finally posted. There is plenty of money in the bank for the bills that are due in the next couple of days, but I'll have to transfer some to cover my car payment.


Below is what I achieved today. I am focusing on what I do each day, and not looking back to what I did or didn't do any other day. I hope that one day soon I won't need to include the "disclaimer".
