Day 56: A Restful Saturday

Saturday October 12, 2024

Here is the link to my original Day 56. It was  Thursday February 28, 2019. My headline that day was "A Clear Vision", which referred to my quest to lose the weight. It was the dead of winter and temps were in the single digits. I went to work but I was still fighting my cold, so I wasn't exercising.

Today was a quiet day. I'm not sure what time I got up. It was after 8 but before 9 ! After I fed the cats and had a cup of coffee and my breakfast, I got myself dressed and walked to the post office. My Beekman order has been sitting there since for a few days and I wanted to get it. It was breezy and cool but the sun was shining, so I enjoyed the walk ! I got my first AARP mailing and the latest Readers Digest. Everything else was Tops ads, casino mailings and assorted junk that went directly into the post office recycling bin. About 2 pm I decided to go to Walmart. I was back home by 3:30. I picked up canned & dry cat food, litter, milk, diet coke, pretzels, 2 power strips, an extension cord, weather stripping, spray foam, packing tape, frozen green beans, Jimmy Dean sandwiches and Eggo waffles. I also splurged on a bottle of coconut oil cooking spray. It was nearly $8 but I bought it because it doesn't contain any accelerants, such as silicone. I'm hoping it will not leave a sticky buildup on my muffin tin. I bought it so that I can bake some of the cornbread swirls I bought. These will stand in as evening snacks since I delayed my Nutrisystem order and will run out of evening snacks. My Walmart total was like $235 !!!! Cat food is a regular expense, but I had quite a few "one time" purchases today that really boosted the bill up. I bought the eggo waffles because I delayed my Nutrisystem order and will also run out of breakfast items. They have 180 calories and 4 grams of protein, while the Nutrisystem waffles are 160 calories and 5 grams of protein. Close enough ! I only bought a box of 4 Jimmy Dean sandwiches because those are 270 calories each. This morning I had the pumpkin waffles for breakfast and they are delicious ! Those have 190 calories and 4 grams of protein.

So what did I eat today ? Breakfast was the 190 calorie pumpkin waffles and lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. I didn't have a yogurt or morning snack. Late afternoon I had a vanilla scone. I think are some ridiculous amount like 250 calories. Dinner was 260 calorie turkey medallions with mashed potatoes. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake with whipped cream.

I didn't do much else other than cleaning the litter boxes and repotting my kalanchoe. It's grown quite a bit since I bought it, so I hope that continues in the new pot. It's only slightly larger, so I hope it settles in ! I also took a shower and washed my hair, then did skincare. I didn't worry about getting on the treadmill as the post office walk and traipsing around Walmart certainly counts as exercise !

Today was our last sunny day until probably Friday. Rain is supposed to move in tonight around 3 am. We might see some peaks of sun on Thursday, but nothing like the blue skies and sunshine we had today ! I am going to miss these sunny days ! Winter is coming fast and I'm hoping it's mild, like the past couple years. I'm doing fine keeping the upstairs thermostat on 65 and the downstairs on 68, so I'm hoping my heating bills won't be ridiculous.

With all my errands done, I have zero excuses not to get back to my exercise routine starting tomorrow. I've eaten pretty erratically the past couple of days, so I need to get back on track there too. I've decided to toss the last scone as I just don't like them and why eat those calories ? Tomorrow I will give the cornbread swirls a try. There are 6 in a tube and I think the serving size is 1, so those will last me a bit.

I've scheduled my annual pasta dinner for 11-10 and sent out the invite today. Everyone is coming and I'm happy about that ! I need to get started cleaning the house and plan to attack that one room at a time. I also have to get my Christmas decorations up before then and also shop for the ingredients I need. I have 4 weeks to get it done and I am *not* going to wait to the last minute like I did last year !

I spent some time this morning playing Cookie Jam and of course I had YouTube on all day. I saw some unkind comments pertaining to the sexual orientation of Chris from letsdig18 and I was sad about that. He seems like such a nice guy .. so what if he's gay ? Sure, that sucks because he's attractive and he'd be a great husband and father, but it is what it is. I hate to see someone like him basically being trolled or outed about the personal aspects of his life that he chooses not to share. People can be so mean ! He seems to have a large group of male friends, so they obviously could care less about his personal life. None of his friends are effeminate, a gay trait that I have to admit I don't care for, and several are happily married. Apparently Chris has another channel called farmlifenc and it appears to feature videos from a guy named David. Chris and he bought the farm together in 2013. There haven't been any new video's since January, so I'm not sure what happened there. It seems like David runs the farm operation while Chris works at the excavating business. There are "assumptions" they are gay and since David posts videos that are clearly in the house Chris built, I'm going to guess they are. It's odd though .. the farm website lists David as the "owner". He is Vietnamese/American and looks to run the farm operation and does floral design. Multi-talented for sure ! He has no southern accent, so he is not native to North Carolina. I'm always sad when an attractive man turns out to be gay. It can be life changing when something like that comes out but Chris seems to have retained his following and his fan base is huge. I remember the actor Matt Bomer from the tv show White Collar. Coming out pretty much destroyed his acting career. I'd hate to see anything like that effect Chris. I'm a little too invested in this kid !

Below is what I achieved today. I am focusing on what I do each day, and not looking back to what I did or didn't do any other day. I hope that one day soon I won't need to include the "disclaimer".
