Day 106 & 107: A Slow Start

 

I was awake just after 7:30 today and got up around 8. A very fine light snow was falling and it looks like we might have gotten about an inch overnight. I fed the indoor and outdoor cats and then sat down to enjoy my breakfast with some YouTube, Cookie Jam and (of course) Minnie snuggles ! When Minnie hopped off my lap I got dressed and decided to go out and shovel the driveway. Full disclosure: when I first thought about shoveling I was going to do it "later". Well, you know how that goes. I knew that if I sat down with another cup of coffee the day would likely get away from me and I wouldn't do it. So I put on my shoes and headed outside. It was 9:10 when I got started and 9:50 when I got done. It was a very well spent 40 minutes ! The driveway is 100% clear and I also shoveled the front steps and the sidewalk in front of my house. Light snow was falling when I got started but it had stopped by the time I got done. It's almost 10:30 now and I feel great ! Yet again I am reminded that physical exertion makes you feel good !

I didn't write yesterday. I spent the day watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. I did manage to do 3 loads of laundry, so the day wasn't a total loss ! One load was the sweats I've had in the dresser upstairs for years. They'll come in handy later this winter. We didn't get anything more than a flurry or two of snow yesterday. So much for the prediction of 4-6 feet. I am very grateful we didn't get that, even though I have a plow service lined up.

My plan for the rest of today was to begin addressing the absolute mess in my office closet, but I never got around to it. The clothes I can't wear right now need to be moved to the closets upstairs for the time being. I guess I'll try again another day !

Michelle texted me to ask my thoughts on Christmas gifts, as she is not exchanging gifts with Lauren, Alyssa, Erin, Rich and Barb. I told it didn't matter to me, so we're not exchanging. I am exchanging with Lauren, Kim and Joe. 2024 just continues to suck more. I get it, we're all adults but it's hard for me because I have no one. Rich and Barb buy for each other, Kim and Joe buy for each other and the girls. Michelle and Mike buy for each other. I'm sure Alyssa and Erin buy for each other. I don't know if Alyssa or Erin plan to buy for me, so that's a dilemma. I never asked for expensive gifts and I actually always spent more than what anyone spent on me. I used to spend $100 per person. I guess I will just buy myself whatever I need or want, as I've always done.

Below is what I achieved today. I am focusing on what I do each day, and not looking back to what I did or didn't do any other day. I hope that one day soon I won't need a checklist to ensure I do all of these everyday tasks !
